8 weeks tomorrow

Here's a pictures of Hayden at 7 weeks and 3 days.

And here he is at 7 weeks, 6 days...

...look how fat his legs are getting!

Hayden will be 8 weeks tomorrow. He is getting so big (and fat). I wish we had a scale so I can weigh him, but for some reason we've never bought one. Next time I'm at Target I'll have to pick one up. He has a Dr.'s appointment next Tue. and we'll get to see how much he weighs and where he falls on the percentile scale. They will also give him his 2 month vaccinations... I'm a little nervous about these but he'll be fine.

Lots of Mobile Fun

Look at those animals...

they move!

and they're a little scary sometimes...

Here's grandpa, trying to make me smile.

Hayden has a swing with a mobile attached. Until today, he wasn't very interested in it. But we placed him in the swing today and he was able to track the animals with his eyes. This was very exciting for Grandma, Grandpa, and me. We got such a kick out of watching him. Here are some of the pictures.

Trying to catch a smile

Smile at mommy

Hayden's been smiling more but it's been hard to "catch" a smile on camera. Here's some of our best attempts. So far we haven't captured his full mouth smile. He usually gives us lots of smiles when he's on his changing table- he likes his diaper changed! :)

Happy Chinese New Year

Angela and Hayden

Friday Night Sushi

Saturday Night Chinese Food

This weekend was Chinese New Year and we celebrated with lots of good food and good company. I've said before how I really love the weekends- and this weekend was no exception. Angela came to visit and we all had a blast. We spend many hours holding and playing with Hayden. He's getting more expressive which makes it fun.

We discovered Hayden does well in restaurants and we took full advantage of that this weekend! On Friday night Angela, Jason, Hayden, and I went to a small sushi restaurant near our house. On Saturday we went to Chinese food in Irvine and Sunday morning we had breakfast at the "Omelet Parlor" in Costa Mesa. The Ficht's love to eat great food and we are so glad that Hayden is joining right in!

He's getting bigger...

Look how fat he's getting in the face... He has a double chin and is starting to look like "Jabba The Hutt."
He fell asleep over Dad's shoulder. Look how long he's getting!

First Valentine's Day

Hayden got a cute bib from Uncle Aaron and Aunt Kosh and a "pee pee teepee" from Bill and Sally (shown on his head). You place it over his little sprinkler while changing his diapers and it helps keep mommy dry.
Look how excited our "Ladies Man" is- he got a card from Angela, his Great-Aunt and Valentine.

We all had a very nice Valentine's Day. Hayden received many cards and gifts in the mail (seen pictured above) and Mom got roses from Jason. Jason also had dinner delivered. Right when the food delivery guy came (with hot food), Hayden decided he was ready to eat too. Feeding him is a 1/2 hour process. So Jason feed me some shirmp cocktail while Hayden ate and we kept the food warm in the oven until Mr. Hayden was finished. We finished the meal by eating one at a time, one person ate while the other held the little wiggle worm... I wasn't quite the same as other Valentine's Day's, but we all enjoyed it. =)

Starting to smile and coo...

Hayden is starting to smile and coo at us. Here Jason is singing and making funny faces at him. And this is Hayden right before his first day at church. He slept through most of it, waking up only once to feed. They have a "nursing mothers room" at our church. This is were Hayden and I hung out during the service. Feeding him in public was a funny experience- he farts very loudly and frequently while feeding. I don't think much about it at home, but it's a little embarrassing in public.

I love the weekends!

Hayden loves to sleep with his arms above his head. He's usually happy in his combi...
But he does cry... I included this so we have a balanced protrayal of our little guy. I think he was annoyed that the "binkie" fell out of his mouth.

The weekends are VERY nice for me. Jason is able to help out in the night time and during the day. Which give me more time to get things done (cooking, taxes, organizing, etc.). And Jason's parents usually stop by at least one day which is great- 2 more sets of hands to hold Hayden. But only one night of diaper changes is taking it's toll on Jason- he's napping on the couch right now!

Typing with one hand...

Hayden's so happy being held- especially the "over the shoulder" hold. Which is giving my arms and shoulders quite the workout.
Grandma loves to come over just to hold him... he sleeps so peacefully in peoples arms!
Hayden really enjoys being held- asleep or awake. So, I'm learning how to do many things with only one hand... load the dish washer, laundry, type e-mails, cook. Eating while holding him is still a challenge. I spilt a little milk from my cereal on his head this morning... he didn't seem to mind.

Here's Hayden sleeping in his "combi" seat. After trying many different sleeping arrangements, we've finally settled on the combi for now. Hayden wasn't fond of the two different bassinets we tried, but he likes his little seat. And after a few sleepless nights in the bassinets, I'm not yet willing to try anything else. As long as he's happy (i.e. sleeping) in the combi we'll let him be for now.

The things you'll try...

Hayden wrinkles his brow just like Jason.

Here's Randy and Jason laughing at his different facial expressions.

Well Hayden is slightly "colicy", especially in the evenings. It's amazing the thing's we'll try to get him to stop crying. So what works best? A ride in the car and the sound of the hair dryer. I'm glad we discovered the magic of the hair dryer because it's much easier than getting into the car for a ride around the neighborhood. He seems to get really fussy when he's passing gas or right before a big poopy diaper. I don't know if this is a result of his surgery (maybe things are still tender down there) or if this is normal. I just hope it passes.
