We let Hayden wear his Captain America costume for the 4th of July parade. Usually the rules are he doesn't leave the house in costume, except that one time at the park (Jason's a softy).

It turned out to be a beautiful day... and HOT! But that didn't stop Hayden from donning his costume.

Here's the whole neighborhood gang. The scooter girls and Hayden.

The parade... we jumped in near the end.

We ran into Jason's good friend Rich and his family. Jason and Rich are both Planners in the area... they often work on projects together. They live a few blocks from us.

And then there's a big gap in my pictures. It's really hard to chase two kids and get pictures. After the parade, we had a block party. We rented a bounce house, played slip-n-slide, swam at the Smith's, and BBQ'ed.

Then right before fireworks we played with the parachute. I guess it's a grade school toy (I've never played before), but you can play various games with it.

Hayden was so excited he ran out in his underwear after we were rinsing him off from the pool.

I was able to wrangle a pair of shorts on him.

It was fun to play games that all ages could play.

I love our block!

And when the others kids were getting ready for the fireworks, Hailey enjoyed the bounce house.

And Hayden had to show her how it worked.

I think I just wiped a nose... I recognize that face.

Ok, back to bouncing. She loved it!

She was laughing the whole time.

I think the kids wouldn't mind having a bounce house in the front yard every day!

Needless to say, the kids were wiped out by the time fireworks got started. I put Hailey to bed a couple minutes after they started and she slept right through them.

Hayden stayed up and watched them this year. Last year he was so tired he excused himself to bed. It was one fun (and exhausting) day!
