Infamous Rainbow Falls Hike

Tuesday we started out on a hike to Devil's Postpile. Hayden was in a great mood. "Come on Grandpa let's go!" He made the first hike- no problem. He loved running around, getting dirty and picking up rocks. Here's a picture of the "Devil's Postpile"
" Come on Mom, let's do the next hike!"
This is where it all went down hill- FAST. Hayden cried the entire hike in (about 30 min.), the entire picnic lunch (cut short to 3 min.), and the hike back out (another 30 min). And it wasn't a standard whinny cry- it was the hysterical cry, nothing will make me happy cry.
We thought it was because he was too close to nap time but when we got home we tried to get him to nap. He cried ANOTHER 60 min. before we gave up. By now we are feeling like parents of the year... Jason finally, out of despiration, call the Dr. for an appointment (for Hayden that is, although I really could have used one too). Turns out he had an ear infection. Yep, Jason was right again. Turns out I have very little motherly instints when it come to these things. Here's a picture from Sue's camera of Rainbow Falls. I think I may have looked at it for 2 sec before we turned around. Funny how a cranky 2 year old can ruin such a beautiful setting.

Bummer! What great scenery...we had a similar experience minus the ear infection at Yosemite...it was too long a day I guess...Tom had to carry Holden screaming back to the car...

Poor Hayden I hope he feels better soon!
