Harbor Cruise and Dinner

These are the tomatoes that sparked a conversation that set the course of our day. Saturday morning, we're drinking coffee outside talking to our neighbors, admiring our community garden grape tomatoes that are growing. One thing leads to another and we decide to have another spontaneous block pot luck. Which includes swordfish from Blue Water Grill topped with tomato basil salad, caesar salad, grilled corn, roasted potatoes, and a peach and blueberry cobbler. After the menu's planned, Dave says "If the sun comes out this afternoon, we should take a harbor cruise on our boat and pick up the fish." Sign us up!
So I prepped the tomato salad and cobbler before we headed out on the boat.
We meet Dave and family at the Balboa Yacht Club and load the boat.
Dave called Blue Water Grill (owner is a good friend of his) ordered the swordfish and some poke for us to pick up.
Hailey was the only kid with no life vest- not sure if they even make them that small.
They had a life vest for Hayden to use. He liked this little perch. This was taken before he became SUPER tired (no nap) and was a nice little boy.
Looking out the back with Brooke.
Hayden liked spending time down below... that's where the snack food was.
Pulling up to Blue Water Grill. They have a few slips for the boaters to come in and pick up food.
Afterwards, we headed out of Newport Harbor and down to Emerald Bay in Laguna Beach to swim.
Dave was the first in. He down played how cold it was so others would join him.
Hold on Hayden! Canon ball.
Hayden's face tells you how cold it was. :)
Then back home to finish the food. Dave is a master with the BBQ- his fish is always cooked so perfect. He even makes those perfect grill marks.
A nice end to a very nice day.

wow wow wow. what a fun day. the funny thing was that we were in Emerald Bay on Saturday too! I was admiring all the boats out there. Crazy. Even crazier was that they boys jumped in the freezing cold water!
