On Sunday we attended Kai's first birthday party.

Here's the birthday boy and his dad Hector. Hector and I have worked together for over 10 years now. We've become good friends and now both have two young children (each) that are close in age.

Here's three generations of Gutierrez's.

Hayden loved the party! It was a fun luau theme held at a great Irvine/Tustin park. On the drive home he said, "That was a fun party- it was a big hit."

And Hayden loved the cupcakes!

And he met some new friends. This is Connor, another co-workers son.
There was a balloon artist there too. Can you see what Hayden asked him to make?

And a pinata! Hayden had never experienced a pinata before. When he heard there was candy inside he was so happy. He couldn't keep his eyes off that fish.

Here's Hayden taking his turn. Eventually an older kid had to help break it.

Hayden was pretty passive when going for the candy. But he still got plenty in this bag and has been treasuring it at home ever since. He gets to eat a few pieces everyday after school- and let me tell you, that's the first thing he asks for when he gets home! He's stashed the candy away in his room like a little squirrel. He should finish it up today.
